SFA Move For Dougie

Saturday’s game against Dunfermline was assistant manager, Dougie Anderson’s last time in the dugout.  Dougie has unfortunately for us accepted an offer of a job with the Scottish Football Association.  He leaves with immediate effect to join them as a Coach Education and Development Manager.

Manager, Gary Naysmith said “I’m gutted that Dougie is leaving but I understand his decision.  Between Queens and East Fife I have managed 240 games and Dougie has been by my side for all but one of them.  He has been a huge help to me and has been excellent for the Club in his time at Palmerston.  It will be strange for me not working with him every day and not having him to bounce things off during games but that’s football.  I wish Dougie every success in his new job.  For me the focus now turns to finding a new number two.  I have a few people in mind but I need to make sure it’s the right appointment.  I want to make sure he is the right fit for me and the club for the remainder of the season and beyond”.

Speaking of his departure Dougie said “I am sad to be leaving but the job at the SFA is too good an opportunity for me to turn down.  The timing isn’t great, and I would have liked to have stayed to continue what we have started at Queens.  We are in a sticky run just now but it’s only a matter of time until we get a result. I will miss working with Gary and the players and I would like to place on record a huge thank you to everyone at Queen of the South for giving me the chance in full time football.  It’s a great club and I go with fond memories and many friendships.  But I feel this is the right move for me and my family.  Queens will always be in my heart and I wish them every success”.

Everyone connected to the club would like to thank Dougie for his commitment and effort during his time at Palmerston.  We fully understand his decision and wish him every success in his new job.
