Update from The Boardroom

I thought we would do an update on what's been  happening at the club as we move into the final quarter and are having a push to make the play offs with  the good thing being,  that it is all in our own hands. There is no doubt our  home form has been disappointing compared to our away form.  At this moment we have 17 points from home games and 24 from away games. This is great for our hard core of fans who travel to the away games as they will have enjoyed some super days out , certainly the hardy souls who travelled away on Tuesday to see us win at Tannadice for the first time since 1933 were well rewarded. The other highlights being the wins at Dunfermilne and Falkirk with Stephen Dobbie  netting hat tricks in both games.

However, on the flip side , it is difficult to attract more fans at home when we aren't winning. We have had plenty draws where we just haven't managed to do enough to win the game. Against ICT,Dumbarton,Dunfermilne first time around and Morton we were the better side but couldn't get the win over the line.

The players and management team are aware of this and hopefully we can get results in the last 4 home games and this will help with attendances.

As you will be aware,  two of the floodlights have undergone a restoration. The floodlights are iconic and we did not want to lose them .After they were surveyed we had to make a decision on the refurbishment. We have received a grant from the Football Partnership to help with some of the costs, which were pretty considerable and work will take place on the other two as soon as it is possible

We opened the terracing for the St.Mirren game where preparatory work needed to be carried out to make sure all Health and Safety issues were cleared. In an ideal world we would open it all the time  but it costs money for stewarding, police and toilets so it has to be financially viable before it is put to use. The SLO's flags have helped brighten the terrace up when it isn't in use.

We will soon be releasing next years gate prices and season tickets and this is something that we have discussed with both the shareholders and the SLO's. We have had a price freeze for a number of years but will make an announcement when the final decision is made. The SLO's have been working on various different schemes and hopefully their hard work whether through social media or networking with supporters and supporters clubs will pay dividends with a bounce in the crowds. Their Meet the Manager Night seemed to go down well and they have a Scottish Cup Anniversary Day in the planning.

The Chairman took a trip to the Macron headquarters in Bologna when we had the free weekend in March. This was to discuss the design of the Centenary Strip and also look at various options for the away strip. We had discussed with the SLO's about choosing an away strip with their and the fans input . However, with Macron and the Chairman  coming up with a novel  idea from our origins and  history , we have decided to go down that route in the Centenary year . We will look at fan input in forthcoming years.

Watch this space for the new designs coming out soon.

We will also  be setting up a Centenary Committee to look at events and commemorative products, the SLO's and supporters will be involved in that.

At last weeks SPFL Championship meeting , we were informed that the suggestion to have one off games for the QF and SF Play off games was turned down, which was disappointing as we feel that it is very difficult for the 3rd or 4th placed  team to get through with that many games at the end of the season.

We were informed that there may also be some interesting additions  to the Irn Bru Cup .

As usual we have our Easter Soccer Camps which are normally well attended with the 1st team making a training appearance on Tuesday 10th April.

The Shirt Draw leaflets have also gone out and it is taking place on Thursday 26th April. With it being the Centenary shirt we are hoping for a record amount of entries , so if you can all help spread the word ,we can strive to get there. For any business or organisation or even individuals with the free season ticket , it is a gamble worth taking and you can know you are helping the club .

There should be a new Corporate tenant moving into the arena soon and we have had a change of management in the café with Donna and Paula taking over and this has been well received. They are open later at nights and providing healthy options whether you are here for 6 a side football or fitness classes.

Meetings with companies are on going  re -  World of Sport Concept as we keep striving to maximise the off the field income.

Thanks again to all staff, volunteers, coaches, sponsors ,SLO's   and of course the supporters for their input into the club.
