The Week Ahead

MONDAY - 27th MARCH

Between 10 and 11am Walking Football continues at The Queen of the South Arena.  For £3.00 per person the club are giving the over 50’s the chance to play at a more subdued pace.

Between five o’clock and six in the evening, youngsters are encouraged to come along and join the community coaches to play football for just a pound at King George V as part of the Pound to Play scheme. Please note the change of time from 4pm to 5pm.

From quarter past five until 8pm, Speedy Byers will be holding his goal-keeping coaching sessions at Palmerston.  The groups taken by qualified SFA coaches are open to boys and girls aged between 10 – 16 years old.  The first session costs £2.50 and runs for the first hour, with the second group coaching getting underway at half past six for an hour and a half for £3.50. TUESDAY – 28th MARCH

The school visits continue with Lochrutton Primary from 10 until 11am.

In the afternoon, as the community team try to help increase kids chances of academic success they continue the Why Try Programme between quarter to two and quarter past three. 

It’s training night for the youth teams and the Queen of the South Ladies.  Training for the youth sides takes place for two hours from half past five with the Ladies training for an hour from six o’clock.

MATCH DAY – midfielders, Dominic Thomas and Joe Thomson who are currently on loan at Palmerston are part of the Scotland Under 21 squad for the International challenge match between Scotland and Estonia which takes place in Paisley.  The game kicks off at quarter to eight.

 

WEDNESDAY – 29th MARCH

From 11am for an hour it’s the turn of Collin Primary for a school visit.

Later in the day, the Wednesday clubs for pre and primary school kids continue. Pre-school club starts at half past three until quarter past four for just £3.50. The club then opens for those at Primary school from four until half past five for just £5.00.

MATCH DAY for the Under 20’s who clinched the West Development League title are back in action.  They head to Ravenscraig to play AIRDRIEONIANS – kick off  8pm.

 

THURSDAY – 30th MARCH

Another busy day for the Community Team with school visits during the morning and in the afternoon. The Common Thread coaching session takes place from 11.30 at the Queen of the South Arena.  That’s followed by Lochside for an hour from one o’clock.

In the evening Football Fans in Training continues under the guidance of Karen Robertson. One participant, journalist Tom Hanley charts his weekly progress in the Dumfries Courier.

It’s the second training night for the Youth teams and Ladies. They get underway at half past five.

 

FRIDAY – 31st MARCH

The Girls only club takes place between four and five for just £4.

 

SATURDAY – 1st APRIL

MATCH DAY for the first team with the visit of DUNDEE UNITED in the Championship.  The game which kicks off at 3pm is sponsored by Jardine Roofing Limited with The Plumb Centre as the gold ball sponsor and Glencaple and Bankend 5 the silver ball.

As always the Community team will be running the Saturday Kids Club from half past 12 when youngsters can come along to the Arena and enjoy a coaching session and a bite to eat before heading to the game all for £10.00.

 

SUNDAY – 2nd APRIL

MATCH DAY – for four of our teams.  The Queens ladies are away to Rutherglen in the league, while the Under 13’s, 15’s and U 17s are all in Perth to play Elgin City. 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

The facilities within the Arena and KGV are available to book and don’t forget the Club shop and the Arena café are open throughout the week.

Also the Queens lottery continues with the chance to win £50 or £25 from Monday to Friday, £500 on a Saturday and of course for those in the deluxe draw the monthly chance to win £1000 (£3000 at Christmas or a new car at the end of the season) – details of how to enter are online.

And the club are currently taking entries for the annual shirt sponsorship draw which takes place at the end of April.  Companies or individuals are invited to take part in the special 21st anniversary draw.
