Update from the Manager

This weekend sees us return to Palmerston for our first home game in six weeks.  It’s been a long time away, although our home form hasn’t been great so far this season, it’ll be good to be back home and back in front of our own support.

We welcome Alloa, a side fighting for their lives down at the bottom of the table.  They have enjoyed an upturn in form recently under Jack Ross, so we know we will have to be on our guard on Saturday.

There is definitely no easy games in the Championship, it’s such a tight league. There is fine margins in football, so as we head into the business end of the season, we need to start making sure that we are on the right side of those margins.

Although the season hasn't panned out the way we’d hoped so far this season, we are still well in contention for a top four finish.  It looks like Rangers, Hibernian and Falkirk are going to take the first three places, but I firmly believe we have the players more than capable of taking the final play-off spot.

Having, no game last week, was disappointing as we want to get games played, however it did give our injured players, Callum Tapping and Dale Hilson that extra time as they continue to progress with their recovery.

Captain Chris Higgins is still struggling with the knock he took to his ankle at Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup tie, so he will be missing this week. Aidan Smith is also doubtful with a knock.  However, Gary Oliver who was struggling to make the trip last week – has recovered and is back in the squad.

With last weekend’s match cancelled, midfielder, Andy Murdoch is still waiting to make his debut for us and is chapping at the bit to get going.  We had hoped to have more new faces recruited to freshen up the squad, we have no further update as yet, but continue to work on it.
