Fowler's frustration at Dumbarton draw

Frustration was the keyword from James Fowler after his side’s disappointing draw with Dumbarton on Saturday.

The Queens gaffer was frustrated at the failure to create any clear cut chances on a sodden day at the Rock. That frustration was added to after Derek Lyle’s late red card for an alleged clash with Archie Campbell.

The striker may miss the Scottish Cup quarter final clash with Falkirk on Friday depending on if the red card is appealed.

Fowler said: “Conditions weren’t great but I think we had 70-80% of the play without creating any real chances.

“They sat in and nullified the space and that restricted us to a few chances. It was a big point for them, probably after recent result but looking at ourselves we’re a bit frustrated at the lack of chances we created with the amount of possession we had.

“I think we had the majority of the play and Dumbarton didn’t create many chances.

“Losing Del at the end as well is frustrating and I think their player said it wasn’t a red either.

“That rules him out for Friday but we’ll have a look at the footage and see if there’s any grounds to appeal. Del knew the implications and he was annoyed because he knew he was going to miss Friday from that decision.”

Meanwhile, Dumbarton gaffer Ian Murray was thrilled at his side for fighting for the jersey and also claims he never seen Lyle’s sending off.

He said: “It’s a good point for us, the performance was more important today. We had to show a dig that we haven’t shown.

“I didn’t see the incident at the end, according to our dugout he put his head towards him but the contact was minimal.”

Queens sit fourth in the Championship on level points with Falkirk – who visit Palmerston Park this Friday for the Scottish Cup quarter final.
