McIntyre urges players to bounce back against Falkirk

Jim McIntyre believes that his Queens side can bounce back this weekend with a win against Falkirk – and start another unbeaten run.

The Doonhamers 5 game unbeaten run came to an end after last week’s 1-0 defeat to Dundee but the Palmerston boss knows that the 2-0 victory against Falkirk two weeks ago will give his side a boost.

McIntyre said: “We were disappointed when the unbeaten run came to an end but there were plenty of positives to come out of that match and on another day we could have came away with a point.

“This is our chance to bounce back but we know it won’t be easy, the other times we’ve played this season it’s came down to a late goal – or in our case last time, two late goals.

“The unbeaten run showed the consistency we have been looking for this season which we knew we would need to make our target of the play-offs.

“The players deserve great credit as we’ve had to deal with suspension and injuries but we’ve managed to get ourselves in a great position.”

With Queens sitting fourth on the table – and trailing Falkirk by five points – the Gaffer knows that the league can change in a matter of games.

He said: “We’ve beaten every team in the league this year with the exception of Hamilton, who we knocked out of the cup.

“The squad we have is capable of beating any team on any day and it has been a huge effort this year from everyone.

“Earlier in the season we lost Stephen McKenna and Paul Burns with long-term injuries but because of the depth in our squad we’ve had players who have filled in for them, which is great.

“Derek Young was playing with a toe injury earlier this season as well and he was nowhere near 100% because of that but we’ve been lucky enough to have replacements.”

With Queens facing Falkirk for the second time in 14 days McIntyre is adamant there is little between the top sides in the league – and he couldn’t pick a winner for this year’s title.

McIntyre insisted: “Dundee have a very strong side but is their first 11 better than Falkirk? I’d have to say no, it isn’t.

“It’s much of a much-ness when it comes to the top sides in the league and we’ve proven that with the fact that we can beat anyone in the division.”

Queens face Falkirk at the New Falkirk Stadium in the Scottish Championship on Saturday at 3pm.
