The manager made two changes to the starting line-up for the trip to Edinburgh City. With Efe Ambrose and Paul McKay dropping to the bench, there was a first start for loanee Max Kilsby and Harry Cochrane made his return from a knee injury as captain.
In the opening five minutes, Lee Connellys free kick was headed clear and a throw in from Kieran McKechnie was headed over. Before Cammy Logan had his shot blocked.
It was fairly scrappy game, but Queens did have a shout for a penalty with just under 15 minutes played when Callum Flatman stopped a shot from McKechnie. The ball went out for a corner, but it looked like the defender had used his arm to help deflect the effort.
Midway through the half, Logan rolled his ankle and had to be replaced by Lewis Gibson on the right wing. And as Queens tried to create an opening when Connelly laid the ball back for Kyle Doherty the ball was knocked away and Malik Zaid won it in the middle of the park to set up a chance for Oliver McDonald. The strikers shot from the edge of the box was weak and straight into the arms of Gordon Botterill.
The game needed a spark and Gavin Reilly cut the ball back from the by-line, but Doherty was sluggish to react.
Ten minutes before the interval, Liam Parker made a mess of a throw in but recovered to whip the ball into the back post for McDonald, this time his header was wide of the upright.
Reilly then tried a shot from 20 yards, but his left foot effort was far too high. And at the other end another shy from Parker into the danger area was headed away only as far as Frankie Deane who fired wide.
In the closing stages of the first half a great cross field ball to Reilly was cut back to Connelly but he took the shot from distance and Ruairidh Adams saved easily. The final chance before the break fell to the home side as Zaid worked his way to the edge of the box but Botterill got down to collect as he aimed for the bottom corner.

Five minutes after the restart, Gibson played in a great cross from the right, but Doherty couldnt get on it at the back-post. Five minutes later Kyle McClellands header fell to Callum Wilson, but his shot was deflected for a corner.
On the hour mark with Queens struggling to find a breakthrough, Joel Mumbongo was introduced to the action and within a minute he fired a left foot shot over the crossbar.
Queens were enjoying their best spell of the game and as Connelly played in a corner, the keeper collected Jack Brydons header. Connelly then fired a low ball into the box, but it was knocked away. And Connelly was again involved in the next chance when he tried to lift the ball over the keeper but couldnt get enough power on it to beat Adams.
The deadlock was broken in the 71st minute when Mumbongo got on the end of a cross from Gibson and fired a low shot across goal into the net with the help of the post.
A minute later Mumbongo shouldve doubled the lead with a header. And the big striker hit another left foot effort but this time it was wide as he tried to find the top corner.
With five minutes of normal time remaining, McClelland cleared as Kenny Fisher was in on goal. The home side desperate to take something from the game, piled bodies forward and deep into stoppage time, goalie Adams came forward to take a free kick from inside his own half, as the ball dropped in the box, Ambrose headed out for a corner.
Adams made his way into the opposite box for the set piece and as the ball fell at the near post, Queens defenders and Botterill scrambled to clear but it was Adams who got there to stab the ball over the line to earn his side a share of the points.
