Queens Open Pre-Season With A Win

After two weeks of training Queens began the pre-season fixtures with a 3-1 win over Clyde at East Kilbride this afternoon. Manager Allan Johnston took the opportunity to cast his eye over eight trialists, two or three of whom had fairly familiar faces for Queens fans, as well as using all his own signed players.

Queens began the match with seven local players on the field. The contest was reasonably well balanced early on but the more time passed, the more on top Queens got and it was no great surprise when Danny Carmichael put Queens ahead ten minutes before the break. The same player had the ball in the net again a minute later but saw it ruled out for offside.

Allan Johnston made no less than ten half time changes whilst our part-time opponents only made a couple so again there were no surprises when the fresher legs seized complete control. Both of our second half goals were scored by Trialists, the first by a familiar looking "tanned" gentleman who played wide left. The third goal was a penalty kick taken by a young Trialist striker after he had himself been upended by the Clyde keeper. The previous "tanned" trialist thought he had added a fourth soon after but it too was ruled out for offside. With just over five minutes to go Pat Scullion headed a consolation goal for Clyde via the foot of the goalpost.

Queens Lined Up:
