Matty Douglas Update

Matty Douglas

Everyone at the club would like to wish Matty Douglas a speedy recovery.

The captain fell awkwardly early in the second half at Cove on Saturday during our playoff semi final.  It has now been confirmed he suffered a double break and ligament damage to his wrist and is now in plaster.

All the best skipper.

New Deal for Ross Stewart

Following the disappointment of not reaching the playoff final, there is some good news as goalkeeper Ross Stewart has signed a new one-year deal.

“Cheesy” was a mainstay in goal throughout the league campaign, playing almost every minute. He was also number one for the two playoff matches against Cove and featured in four cup matches. In his 42 appearances he kept 12 clean sheets. Resulting in him picking up two Player of the Year trophies at the club awards night.

With us for the 2025/26 season, Ross said “Obviously it was disappointing not to get promoted but we have a great group of boys and I enjoyed being part of that, so it was an easy decision for me to extend my stay with the club. We will rest up and enjoy the summer, recharge the batteries and be ready for when pre-season comes around and hopefully, we can have a real crack at it next season.”

Manager Peter Murphy added “Ross is a real professional who prides himself on clean-sheets. He made a massive contribution to the side with some unbelievable saves as well as being an influential character in the dressing room. As we look to keep a nucleus of the squad together, we were keen to make him one of our priority signings, so we are delighted to get this one done.”

Gallant comeback falls short and brings season to an end
It was all or nothing as we headed to Cove Rangers for the second leg of our Championship semi-final playoff. With everyone coming through the first game okay, Manager Peter Murphy went with the same starting eleven as Tuesday evening. With three minutes played Harry Cochrane hit a left foot shot from 20-yards that was just wide of the keeper’s right-hand post. But it was the home side who took an early advantage when Findlay Marshall and Mitch Megginson were crowded out and as Matty Douglas tried to dribble the ball clear it all got a bit clumsy and Cochrane made a challenge inside the box ...

Liam is a Doonhamer

Although the season isn’t over, preparations are already well underway for the next campaign. And we are delighted to announce that Liam Smith has committed his future to the club.

The winger who joined from Swansea in the January window has agreed a two-year deal.

Peter Murphy said “Liam has been pivotal in us reaching the playoffs. His pace and skill are fantastic to watch and makes him unplayable at times. He is exciting to watch and has become a big favourite amongst the support. He is a quiet boy but instrumental to the squad. To have players of his quality signed on for next season is great and sets us up for being ready to hit the ground running.”

Liam added “It has been brilliant back playing regular first team football. I have enjoyed the past few months and hopefully we can go on and complete the season on a high. It’s a great dressing room and the club has a good fan base so I’m happy to have agreed the deal and look forward to the future.”

Jordan Allan Signs

It’s been a good day for striker Jordan Allan. After picking up the Glens Player of the Month for April, we can confirm that he has signed a pre-contract with the club and will officially become a Queens player for next season.

After signing the one-year deal Jordan said “it is brilliant to be part of the squad for next season. I have loved it since joining the club on loan in January. I knew at the start of the season that my time at Falkirk would be coming to an end so it was about looking to the future and to be able to stay full time with a club like Queens is ideal for me. It’s a great club and the last few months being back amongst the goals and helping the club achieve is hopefully the start of something good.”

Manager Peter Murphy added “We knew when we signed Jordan that we were getting a goal-scorer and in the past few months he has proved us right. It took him a few weeks to settle but some of his finishes in the past few months have been outstanding, resulting in him being named league one player of the month for April. His work rate off the ball has also been a massive contribution to where we are so to have him as part of the squad for another year is tremendous news.”

Player of the Month

It’s a double celebration at the club. After the management staff collecting their award, striker Jordan Allan has been named Glens League One Player of the Month for April. Jordan won the award thanks to his goal contribution scoring in three consecutive games during the month against Annan, Montrose and Kelty Hearts.

Jordan said "It's an honour to be named league one player of the month as there are some talented players in the division. It has been a good run for me personally but it's thanks to all the other boys in the dressing room. We just need to keep it going and hopefully there will be plenty more awards to come."
