Congratulations to our under 18 side who have made it through to the last 16 of the SFA u18 Scottish Youth Cup with a win over Fraserburgh this afternoon.
The young side made up of players from the under 17 and under 19 academy sides made the trip north for a second time after last week’s first attempt was abandoned during the first half as Storm Boelo made its impact across the country.
After a goal-less first half at Bellslea Park today, Lucas Jones opened the scoring five minutes into the second half to give us the lead. And as the game progressed, William Salfenmoser continued his incredible goal-scoring record with a double to secure the win. He made it two-nil after 69 minutes and rounded off the scoring six minutes from time.
FULL TIME: Fraserburgh 0 Queens 3
Coach Eddie Warwick said “We are absolutely delighted for the lads. The game was very even in the first half but we raised our levels after the break. We defended really well and showed good fitness levels and that gave us the platform to go and win the game scoring some very good goals in the process and we are through to the last 16 of the Scottish Cup. It was a long trip and we would like to thank Fraserburgh for their hospitality after the game.”
The youngsters will now face Falkirk in the next round.
Their next match is on Tuesday evening when they host Abbey Vale in the quarter final of the Potts Cup. The match at Palmerston has a 1945 kick-off.
