Under 17s Open with a Draw

Jan 11 2026 16:52

Queens Under 17s kicked off their CAS Cup campaign with a draw at home to Alloa this afternoon.

The game couldn’t have started any better as Queens took the lead in under 30 seconds, when William Salfenmoser tapped in. The scoreline stayed the same until half time with the hosts the better team.

The second half didn’t go to plan with a lot of slack play and errors creeping in from the home team and Alloa equalised. This seemed to spur Queens into action and they enjoyed a spell of pressure, regaining the lead through another fine finish from Salfenmoser from inside the box. It looked like the home team were going to hold on for the win until the 90th minute when a through ball into the box found its way to the Alloa forward who slipped the ball by Isaac Scott to earn Alloa a share of the points.

Full Time: Queens U17s 2 Alloa 2

Coach, Ross Newlands said “On the balance of play. a draw was probably a fair result. We would have liked to consolidate our lead after going ahead in the opening minute but we failed to do so. The boys know they can play at a greater level and hopefully now that we are back playing consistently after the winter break we will continue to make progress.”
