New Transfer Record - Lyndon Dykes

We are delighted to confirm that, following his recent move to Birmingham City, Lyndon Dykes has officially become the highest transfer fee player in Queen of the South’s history.

The 29-year-old first joined us in 2014, before returning from Australia in 2016 and staying for three years. During that period, he made 136 senior appearances in all competitions for Queen of the South, scoring 22 goals. His performances both in league and cup matches solidified his reputation and made his eventual transfers possible.

What began as a shrewd piece of business by the football club has now paid dividends, with Lyndon’s journey taking him through the Scottish Premiership and then on to Queens Park Rangers, where he made over 150 appearances in a four-year spell. He is now with Birmingham City, and the proportion of fee in which we are entitled has made him our record transfer fee.

Lyndon has also gone on to establish himself at international level, earning 44 caps for Scotland and scoring nine goals. Representing his country on the biggest stage has underlined his quality and further strengthened the pride we have in seeing one of our former players succeed.

Beyond his achievements on the pitch, Lyndon is a true role model for all youngsters. His career shows exactly what hard work, determination, and perseverance can achieve, and he serves as an inspiration for the next generation of players especially in Dumfries and Galloway.

Prior to Lyndon, our record transfer fee of £255,000 was for Andy Thomson, when he moved to Southend in 1994.

Everyone at Queen of the South congratulates Lyndon on his continued success and thanks him for playing an important part in our history.
