Community Fridge Update

Oct 28 2022 9:59

On behalf of our Community Fridge volunteers we have been asked to issue a huge thank you to everyone who has donated and supported the project so far. It continues to grow and has helped a lot of people within the Community. Support of the facility is very much appreciated by the team and those using it.

The girls are continuously trying to come up with ideas to expand it and on the back of our #inittogether campaign, they want people to know that it’s not only a place where those in need can pick up essential food supplies. As its part of the Community, they want it to be a place where people can pop in for a chat too. Mental wellbeing is important to us all at the club so it’s great that the Hub is available to offer something else.

With that in mind, the Community Fridge team think that reading is one avenue that helps people to relax, therefore they are looking to open a book section but need donations. If you have any reading material that you want to clear out, then please drop them in for the Hub.

The demand for food also continues so as always if you can spare a few pounds when doing your own shop, we would be grateful if you can pick up some items to help us maintain the service for people in the Community.

Just a selection of things that people need are:

Cereals

Porridge

Long Life Milk

Tinned foods (soup, meats, fish, vegetables)

Sanitary products

Baby products (nappies, food etc)

Toiletries for both adults & children

Cleaning products (washing up liquid/ bleach etc)

Juice

Water

Treats (chocolate/ biscuits / crisps etc)

Donations can be handed in at the Arena during the week or on a match day. The volunteers in the Press Office are also happy to collect donations on match days.

The Community Fridge is open from 6-8 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
