We head to the Highlands this weekend to face Championship leaders Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
The hosts are in fine form but dropped their first league points last week in a goal-less draw away at Dunfermline, however they remain unbeaten with 16 points from six games and have an unblemished record at Caledonian Stadium where they have taken maximum points at home.
We make the trip on the back of a disappointing home defeat but have done well on the road so far this season with two wins against Morton and Raith.
The sides met three times last campaign, and there was nothing to separate the teams, with a win a piece and a draw. In the first game the Caley Jags were 3-0 winners in Dumfries. Kai Kennedy opened the scoring during the first half with Roddy MacGregor and Miles Storey adding to their tally after the break. While in our only visit and last trip to the Caledonian Stadium, Nortei Nortey scored the only goal of the game to give us a 1 – 0 away win. The two sides last meet in April, Aidan Fitzpatrick gave us the lead in 66 minutes only for Nikolay Todorov to equalise two minutes later.
Manager Allan Johnston said “We are still very disappointed at losing the game last weekend. We need to defend better as a team, and we need to take our chances when they come along. I would be concerned if we weren’t creating chances, the chances were there, we just need to be more clinical.
This week we face a side who have made an almost perfect start to the season. They are a strong physical side who are unbeaten and playing with confidence. But we have a good set of players who are more than capable. We need to go there with belief and look to continue our away form and hopefully we can pick a positive result”.
