The Doonhamers started the better of the two teams with high pressing rarely letting Stranraer get out of their half. It only took 16 minutes for Queens to break the deadlock through a good move on the right.

Josh Todd won the ball back in the Stranraer half before laying inside. Connelly nutmegged a defender before passing to Joseph to slot home from close range.

Stranraer hit back on 39 minutes though. A long range left-footed free kick deceiving Josh Rae in goals, bouncing into the top corner.

Queens weren’t down for long though after Trialist 1, playing at right-back, played a lovely ball through to Connelly who slotted past the Stranraer ‘keeper to make things 2-1 at the break.

The second-half was a far quieter affair, no goals were scored with little chances created. Euan East came on at left-back, while Calvin McGrory was replaced after an hour after arguably being Queens’ best player playing in a deep midfield position.

Trialist 1, playing at right-back, hobbled off after 80 minutes after a good display, youth player Scott Dunn replacing him.

It was a good performance all round with new boys Nditi, Paton and Connelly all impressing, with Joseph, Todd and Gibson all putting in good shifts.

The Premier Sports Cup begins next week with the visit of Queens Park.
