Kieran McKechnie Update

As Manager Allan Johnston continues to build for next season, Kieran McKechnie is the latest player to sign a contract extension. The 20-year-old who is currently recovering from knee surgery has agreed a new deal until January 2022.

Speaking to the website the youngster said “I’m really happy to have been able to extend my deal with the club. I am also grateful to them for standing by me as I recover from the operation. The contract extension allows me to fully concentrate on my rehab and hopefully I can get back fit and playing as soon as possible”.

“It was strange and a rare operation, not many people have had it done. There was some damage to my knee between the cartilage and bone which has been sorted. It’s just a few weeks since I had it done so it’s a bit boring just now as I’m still recovering and can’t do much but I’m hoping that I will get off my crutches the first week in June”.

Kieran who signed for Rangers as an 8-year-old spent 11 years with the Ibrox club before signing for Queens at the start of last season.

Manager Allan Johnston said “Kieran was signed after he did well in training and our friendly matches last season. We felt that he would give us other options going forward but his first team opportunities were limited due to the issue with his knee. He has now had the operation to clear that up and is currently recovering but he is still young and still has a future in the game that’s why we wanted to offer him the extension. We will continue to work with him and support him through his recovery to get him back on the park as soon as possible”.
