After our six – one defeat away at Hearts this afternoon, Manager Allan Johnstone said “Of course we can’t afford to lose the amount of goals that we are losing at the moment, they were really poor goals. Obviously Steven Naismith scored a wonder goal to start with and then we lose a goal on the stroke of half time. You can’t afford to lose goals at that point, as you are still in the game and then to lose a goal so early in the second half it was an uphill battle from there”.

“The goals came from us giving the ball away in bad areas and they punish us with the quality they’ve got. Okay Naismith scores a wonder goal and I don’t think there is much that Jack could’ve done about it, it’s just a wonder goal but when you look at the others, they were cheap so that’s what we need to tighten up”.

“When you lose the second goal, you’ve got to start the second half well but we lose a goal within 30 seconds from us giving the ball away cheaply in the middle of the park again. They took their chances Jack didn’t have many saves to make but they were clinical and we gave the ball away to give them the chances in the first place”.

“Every game is massive and we need to start winning games. Games against Hearts are always going to be uphill battle but you can’t afford to give away the goals that we did”.

“The players have got to show a bit of character to prove that they are better than the scoreline shows. We’ve got good players but we’ve got to improve in certain areas and hopefully we can strengthen in January to put pressure on players as well”.

“It’s not just the defence it’s a whole team effort, everybody’s got to do their bit to defend. Some of the goals today were all about us giving the ball away in bad areas and trying to play the extra pass, maybe we need an option further forward and we need to go forward quicker at stages as well so that’s what we need to do”.
