Latest From The Board

Following talks with the SPFL ,there had looked to be a bit more clarity on when the football season could begin again.  With that in mind the Board held a meeting yesterday to start discussing our plans for the new campaign.

All being well it looks like we will make a return to action on the pitch from early October.  With three Betfred cup matches pencilled in from the 7th and the Championship matches for season 2020/21 likely to commence on the 17th of October with teams playing  27 games.

The SPFL are talking to clubs in league one and two to discuss their plans before issuing fixtures for the Betfred Cup.  We would hope to have these fixtures and details of our league matches in the next few weeks.

Therefore, although nothing is certain at this stage, we are now planning to start selling season tickets.  With fewer league games we will be selling season books at a reduced price compared to last season.  Full details of prices will be issued in due course.

With Covid 19 in decline in Scotland the hope is that the suppression of the virus will continue to progress at the speed that it is just now and it wouldn’t be too long before fans can attend matches again.  However, if matches do have to begin without fans within stadiums discussions are ongoing with clubs to stream matches live for season ticket holders so anyone who purchases a season ticket will not miss out on any of the games.

Due to the current situation for clubs across the country it is clear that there will be many players looking for employment and although the manager is currently on furlough he is thinking about who he would like to target for when he returns to build the squad.  If things continue as they are at present, we would expect the squad to start pre-season training at the end of August beginning of September.

Although things aren’t set in stone yet we are delighted that we are able to start making the steps and are moving closer to that happening.  We will issue a further update on fixtures, season tickets and shirt draw sponsorship as soon as we are in a position to do so.

In the meantime thank you all for your continued support as we work our way through the crisis that has impacted our beloved game.
