Reserves Draw at Leaders

Another excellent result was achieved by the Reserve side today when they drew 3-3 away at Reserve League leaders Hamilton Academical. Indeed the result might have been better as we led both 2-0 and 3-2 in the game before being pegged back. Queens took the lead after 24 minutes when Gary Oliver broke down the left and placed his shot beyond the Accies keeper. The lead was doubled when Tommy Goss shot home from just inside the penalty area. However, Accies pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time through Liam Scullion and equalised two minutes after the interval through young striker Andrew Winter. Queens re-took the lead on the hour mark as Goss bundled in his second of the game from close range following a corner but Winter again equalised as he scored from 6 yards 10 minutes later. There was no further scoring and the teams settled for a share of the points.

Reserve team manager Wullie Gibson said, "I thought we played well and deserved to win, scoring three very good goals but I am disappointed with the cheap goals we lost. I was delighted to see Tommy Goss get two goals and he seems to have taken the step up in level from Abbey Vale in his stride. I was also very pleased with young Dom McMahon and Liam Douglas who were asked to play out of position but were excellent. The first team players involved got 45 minutes each to get game time without losing out on taking part in training tomorrow."
