Match Preview v Inverness Caledonian Thistle

We head to the Highlands this weekend for a second time this season as we face Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Championship.

The hosts currently sit second in the table, ten points ahead of us but we of course have a game in hand.  John Robertson’s side have proved to be a bit of a thorn in our side having won both games that we have played so far 2 – 0.

Goals from Sean Welsh and Tom Walsh in the space of three minutes during the first half at the Caledonian Stadium gave them a win in September and the following month they came to Dumfries where Aaron Doran scored after half an hour and Nikolay Todorov secured the victory with a second in the 93rd minute.

Manager Allan Johnston and the squad will set off later today and ahead of the trip he said “We lost to the league leaders last weekend but there wasn’t much between the teams.  Their winning goal came from a set-piece which is disappointing but we had a couple of good chances ourselves.  It got frustrating as the game wore on for a number of reasons but we showed we’re capable of competing against any of the teams in the league.

This weekend we face a side, who in my opinion, have been the best side we have played in the division this season.  They have a good mix of players, many who have experience so we will need to be at our best again this weekend.  They are good at set pieces so we need to be switched on throughout.  They are on a good run of form but so are we, so we can go into the game with a bit of confidence”.
