Queens run in the Scottish FA Youth Cup ended at the last 16 stage at Palmerston last night as Partick Thistle edged a thriller by 5-4 after extra time. The young Queens side can be very proud of their efforts in the competition, particularly last night against the fully funded Thistle Weir Youth Academy.
Queens led 2-0 at half time courtesy of two goals from Harry Hay but the visitors came storming back in the second half, Matthew Collins scoring twice before a Dean Watson penalty saw them take the lead. Two minutes later though Queens were awarded a penalty of their own and Connor Potts tucked it away to level things up.
Into extra time and Dean Watson grabbed his second for the visitors before half time and then completed his hat trick in the 113th minute. Queens were not finished though and debutant Ewan Lawrie pulled a goal back with 4 minutes remaining. They were unable to find another equaliser though and it is Thistle who progress to the last 8. We wish them and coach Ryan '84 yards' McCann all the best in the next round.
