Manager Looks Ahead To Testimonial

Queens supporters along with Derek Lyle's family and friends are all looking forward to the first of his testimonial events on Sunday < 25th June> when Queens and Rangers Legends play each other at Palmerston.

Current Queens boss Gary Naysmith is amongst those in the Queens squad and he's more than happy to turn out in honour of the 36 year old striker.

"He's a terrific lad about the club.  He's been great for me since I've arrived as Manager and he has an uncanny knack of knowing the right time to shoot which is something you just can't coach.  As I say he's been great for me and he is invaluable about the club, he’s the life and sole of the dressing room and he's especially good to have around the younger players, so it's fitting that he's getting a testimonial, he deserves it".

"I think he needs eight or nine goals to become the Club's second top goal-scorer. Hopefully he'll get it next season as he's showed he can still score.  He's not going to play every game, you can't at 36, so we will manage him and if he's scoring then he'll be in the team, just the same as the other strikers".

"Del asked me to help by playing and I have no problem at all helping him out, it's not that long since I stopped playing and I try to keep myself fit, I try to run a few times a week and since retiring from playing I've joined a local over 35's club who play on a Friday night to keep in shape.  I don't know how long I'll play, that doesn't bother me, I'm just happy to help Del".

"Lee (Robinson), Stephen (Dobbie) are playing and Higgy and Andy Dowie are coming back, I don't know everyone who will be playing but I'm looking forward to having a laugh and joke in the dressing room. Jim (McIntyre) will be a decent manager on the day and I can assure you that although we will be having a laugh, we will all want to win, so it will be friendly but competitive, it's built into us to be competitive.

Kick off at Palmerston is 2pm.  Tickets priced £12 and £6 will be available for both sets of supporters on the day.
