Guid Nychburris Parade Thanks and Pictures

Saturday the 18th saw the annual Guid nychburris parade take place in Dumfries, in front of a packed Dumfries with over 6000 people turning up to the spectacle in the town.

With the parade running smoothly and efficiently, we are pleased to say that the Queen of the South FC float finished second in the sport and leisure category. However this couldn’t have been done without the amazing work from over 200 primary school children across Dumfries, who got busy with the paint, pens and Pritt Sticks over the last couple of weeks. So the fantastic work from Noblehill, Troqueer, Ae, St Michaels, Lincluden, Loreburn and Laurieknowe made the float have character and a true reflection as to what the club means to the children.

The float was colourful, eye-catching and full of character, so to get over 200 children involved with Queen of the South and Guid nychburris was a great achievement and the aim of the QosFC in the community.

Also thanks to McCartney’s scaffolding for the lorry and driver Murray for driving the lorry all day, also the Irving’s who helped massively decorate and put the float together once everything was collected, Ross and Ruaridh from the youths and of course to all the people on the float from 2 first teamers in Lyndon Dykes and Dean Brotherson, to coaches at the club Andy Irving and cup hero Jim Thomson, club official Ewan Lithgow and of course the stars of the day, all the children on the float, Katie Thomson, Bailey Thomson, Murray Paterson, Finlay Paterson, Stevie Harkness, Ava Murray, Lucas Murray , Thomas Lithgow and Steven Lithgow and last not but not least Dougie the Doonhamer.

A massive thankyou to everyone involved and well done on helping the float come second!!!

Included are some pictures from the day and some of the children who helped with the float.
