Update from the Manager

Our last game against Raith was a missed opportunity for us in our bid for a top four finish.  We were slow out of the blocks, but got a reaction after the interval and I feel if there was to be a winner in the game it was going to be us.

While we strive to find the consistency that will see us put together a run in our hope of making the play-offs we need to make sure that we start performing for the full duration of matches and not just bits of it.  In our last two games, I feel that we performed for 60 minutes against Falkirk and the second 45 against Raith, however, we still have the same ambitions we set out with at the start of the season and if they are to become reality then we need to start making sure that we are on the front foot and playing well from the first minute in games.

This weekend’s trip to Hibernian is one that we are looking forward to; it will be a good challenge for us.  It’ll be a tough game as Hibs are flying and pushing Rangers for the title. They’ve been consistent, something that we have lacked so far this season.

But we can’t be overwhelmed - we have to go to Easter Road and stand up and be counted. Players want to play in these games; they want to go to the big stadiums with big crowds as it’s a good test of their ability, a chance to show how good they can be.

It’s not hard for them to lift themselves for the “bigger” matches as they know that they have to play to their maximum in these games and I’m sure if we can play to our maximum then we can give Hibs a game.

I believe in the players and the players believe in each other – we will go into the game giving it 100% and we will work together as a unit.

In terms of the squad, in addition to those already out, Aidan Smith and Jake Pickard are both struggling with knocks.

Given this is our last game before Christmas, on behalf of the coaching staff and the players, I’d like to thank you all for your invaluable support and wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas.
