Development League West : Queen of the South 4 v 0 Stranraer

Queens returned to winning league ways with a dominant performance over derby rivals Stranraer.

Queens took an 8th minute lead when Brotherston curled a 20 yard free kick over the wall and past the keeper. Minutes later Brotherston almost turned provider as he fed Smith who fired over. Connor Murray then unleashed a snap shot from out wide that whistled just past the post before Queens nearly doubled their lead with Richard Murray seeing his looping header come back off the bar. A dominant first half ended with Smith shooting wide after being set up by promising youngster, James Fowler.

A half time change saw boss Fowler withdrawn in favour of winger Ryan Nelson. Nelson’s impact was instant as he collected a pass and burst past the full back, crossing to Smith who took his time before placing it past defenders and keeper to make it 2-0.

With Queens bossing the game now a Dickinson pass was collected by Connor Murray who passed inside to Nelson who smashed it home from the angle. Nelson almost added his second of the night as his shot was pushed out for a corner before Smith completed the scoring with his second of the night and in a similar fashion to his first he took his time on receiving a Connor Murray pass before placing it past the keeper.
