Queens Draw at Newcastle

The pre-season finished today with a closed door friendly at Newcastle United`s training ground against their u21 side. The match was an entertaining and high-scoring 4-4 draw which provided a much sterner test than Rotherham`s youths on Saturday. Queens started with an attacking line up and led 2-0 at half time thanks to two goals from Gavin Reilly. However, the young Newcastle side, which included French full internationals Hatem Ben Arfa and Gabriel Obertan, quickly found their form in the second period, scoring three quick goals to take the lead. Queens were far from finished though and a spectacular strike from substitute Kevin Dzierzawski made it 3-3 before Iain Russell scored to give us the lead again. However the home side equalised with virtually the last kick to leave things all square.

The side will now concentrate on preparations for the cup tie with Livingston on Saturday.
