Earlier today Queens 17s returned to action with a home game against Greenock Morton in the CAS Cup Group Stage.
The visitors enjoyed the better of the first half as the hosts started sluggish both in and out of possession. Midway through the half Morton took the lead with a good finish into the top corner of the net.
Half Time: Queens 0 Morton 1
Queens upped their performance levels in the second half, starting with intent and looked more comfortable in possession of the ball. Their hard work was rewarded when Salfenmoser scored from the penalty spot after Jones was upended.
Morton responded and put more pressure on the home defence and regained the lead with a header from eight-yards out. But Queens dug deep and equalised for a second time when Jones followed up a blocked shot with a fine right footed finish.
Queens kept up the momentum and White broke free and calmly lifted the ball over the goalkeeper to give the young side a good home win.
Full time: Queens 3 Morton 2
Coach Ross Newlands said “The first half the boys were a bit off the pace but reacted well in the second. It just shows they are capable of competing with teams who have played in higher tiers for the last few seasons.”
