As a club we have embraced the Christmas spirt and really tried to make an impact on the whole community this festive period.
All our squads and Community teams have taken part in numerous events this month to spread some joy.
Starting with our Dougie Dash in partnership with the Crichton Park run when over 200 runners and walkers helped raise money for the QOS Community Trust.
The next day we opened the Arena doors for our annual Christmas Fayre. Over 30 stall holders were there along with Santa. The kids (and adults) had the chance to spend time with the first team players too.
The community team have travelled the length and breadth of the region visiting schools to collect donations. And our players held their own collections for the foodbank and put together packages.
We have visited care homes and the kids ward at the DGRI to distribute hampers and hand over gifts.
In partnership with Dunelm, we have been able to deliver 1000 gifts to under privileged kids in our area, which is heartwarming.
And we recently held our annual Festive Friends gathering. The event held in partnership with Dunelm, Litebites, Summerhill Community centre, Lochmaben Lunch Club and the SPFL Trust provided a free Christmas meal for 114 people who are living in social isolation.
And working with Summerhill CC, Lochside Grub Club and Your Move we issued 50 festive hampers across the community.
CEO, Dan Armstrong said “This time of year is when families and friends gather to celebrate but we can’t forget that not everyone is in the same position and it’s important that we look out for each other. Our Christmas campaign has been a fantastic effort by all those involved and we thank each and everyone.
As a community club we are proud to play our part and show it’s not just about football. It shows that we can be a team both on and off the park and as well as fans supporting us, we are supporting those in our community.”
As a club we would like to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas.
