Under 17s lose to Livingston

Nov 7 2025 22:59

There was Under 17 league action at Palmerston this evening as our youngsters welcomed Livingston.

It was the away side who got off to a good start and broke the deadlock early due to some slack Queens  play and they soon doubled their lead with a fine header. Queens worked their way back into the game and could have had at least one back before half time, Jones and Hodgson both hitting the keeper at his near post following fine moves.

Half Time:  Queens 0 Livingston 2

It was a better start to the second half and William Salfenmoser scored for the fourth game in a row to pull one back. Queens were on the ascendancy and could have levelled the game before Livingston restored their two goal advantage, beating keeper Scott from just inside the box.

The boys kept working hard to breakdown the Livi rearguard and continued to create opportunities but it wasn’t to be as two dubious finishes which were deemed ‘onside’ much to the amazement of the players and fans alike, Livingston ran out 5-1 winners in the end.

Coach Ross Newlands said “It’s a tough one to take for the boys tonight as they felt they were closer to Livingston than what the scoreline suggests. We had chances but also gave away sloppy goals. Credit to Livingston as they did show their quality throughout the match but as coaches we felt we did more than match them at times. The important thing now is to work hard during the week and get ready for our visit to Dunfermline.”
