Our league matches continue earlier than usual this week as we head to take on Hamilton under the lights on Friday evening. With the hosts playing at Broadwood and Cumbernauld Colts having a home game in the Scottish Cup, the fixture has been brought forward.
Hamilton were league leaders until yesterday’s announcement from the SPFL that they had been found guilty of breaching rules and were fined and deducted six points. The loss of points sees them drop to sixth in the league one table. Accies are to appeal to decision.
In our first meeting this season, it was John Rankin’s side who claimed the three points at Palmerston with a comfortable 4-1 victory. Two down at the break, Reece Lyon pulled one back 22 seconds into the second half but a further two goals ensured the win for the visitors. Their goal-scorers that day were Connor Smith with a double, Steven Bradley and a trialist.
Ahead of the game manager Peter Murphy said “The performance at Peterhead last weekend was not good, it was a bad result and we only have ourselves to blame. With the Hamilton game brought forward it’s a quick turnaround. We know it is going to be a very tough challenge but it is a chance to put right some of the wrongs.”
