Match Preview v Alloa Athletic (H) - 13th Jan 2024

Alloa Athletic are the visitors to Palmerston this weekend as we host the Wasps for our first home league game of 2024.

The visitors have the bragging rights from our two games so far. Gavin Reilly scored a double after Kieran McKechnie had given us the lead after just two minutes at home in August, but it wasn’t enough as Dave McKay, Conor Sammon and a double from Bradley Rodden earned Alloa a 4-3 victory. While Ally Roy scored the only goal of the game when we faced each other at the Indodrill in November.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Manager Mavin Bartley said “Last weekend we suffered our first defeat in five away at Falkirk. Although we lost the game which is always disappointing, I was proud of the players efforts. Their work rate and endeavour couldn’t be faulted. Overall, as a team we defended well for much of the match.

Yes, we would’ve preferred to have created more chances but against the league leaders on their own patch it is never going to be easy to do.

This week we welcome Alloa to Palmerston. They’re a bit of a bogey team for us but that is up to us to put right. They are in and around us in the league so it’s important for us to go out and kick start another positive run of our own”.
