Match Preview v Peterhead (H) - 1st April 23

Tomorrow, as we return to Palmerston we face Peterhead for the final time this season.

Results have been good against the visitors, and we have three wins from three so far this campaign. Our first meeting back in August ended in a 4-1 victory. Max Gillies had given the home side an early lead but goals from Josh Todd, Ruari Paton and a double from Connor Murray eased us to three points.

At Palmerston in October, Euan East and Toddy were on target in a 2-0 win and in our last meeting when we headed back to the Balmoor Stadium, we again came from behind to take maximum points. Kieran Shanks penalty right on half time gave the hosts the lead before Ruari, Jaze Kabia and Connor turned the game in our favour.

It has been a bit of a struggle for The Blue Toon this season and they sit bottom of the table with 12 points from their 29 games.

Despite their troubles, boss Marvin Bartley knows a win isn’t a forgone conclusion and has warned the players that although we are on a good run of form, this game is the important one. The Gaffer went on to say “I was really pleased with our second half performance against Edinburgh when the players took it to another level and punished a team who’s been at the higher ends of the league for the whole campaign.

I am definitely seeing improvements as the weeks go on and it is about producing those performances on a regular basis and not letting the standards drop. Which we are more than capable of doing. If we perform the way we have been then we will pick up more points than not, however we will always be looking on how to evolve.

This week we face a physical team who are fighting for their lives. They’ve also lost their manager so will be looking for that new manager bounce but it is up to us to go out and produce a performance that will keep our unbeaten run going.

Enjoy the game and get behind the players”.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters’ buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

We are aware of roadworks around Park Farm and in the Locharbriggs/Heathhall area that may cause delays, but people travelling should check Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation on the day.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match. The Snaq café with the Arena is also now open and will have a range of snacks on offer ahead of kick off.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, but it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets and match day programmes.

Food donations for our Community Fridge can be handed in at the Club Shop or to the volunteers at the Press Office from 1pm.

Saturday’s match kicks off at 3 pm.
