It’s Friday night action for us this week as we welcome Partick Thistle in the cinch Championship. It will be our fifth and final game against The Jags for this season, with the visitors edging the wins 2 – 1.
They were our opponents for the opening day of the league season back in July, when Scott Tiffoney scored what proved to be the winner in a five-goal thriller at Firhill with just six minutes remaining. While they also claimed the three points on our other visit to Glasgow, when another late goal, this time a Kevin Holt penalty was the only goal of the game at the beginning of last month.
Our league game at Palmerston in December ended goal-less, however we claimed the win when we faced each other in the SPFL Trust Trophy. Lee Connelly and Ally Roy on target for us that night.
Thistle go into the game sitting 4th in the table on 46 points from their 32 games, having drawn with Arbroath last weekend. While we go into the game on the back of a disappointing cup final defeat.
Looking ahead to the game tomorrow, Manager, Wullie Gibson said “The weekend cup final didn’t go our way, but I thought for an hour we were the better team and should’ve been out of sight at half time. But we were punished for not being clinical enough.
The boys are all hurt by the result so with five games to go we need to use that as motivation to pick up the results we need to save our season. Staying in the Championship has always been our priority and we will be doing all we can to ensure that happens.
Our next game is against Partick under the Palmerston floodlights. Thistle themselves are looking for points so it should be a good game. Hopefully one where we come out on top.
Thank you for your support. We need it more than ever so please keep backing the team. #inittogether”.

It is not a requirement to wear a mask whilst in the open, but we recommend you do.
Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.
As far as we are aware there are no ongoing roadworks currently around Dumfries that may affect travel times to Palmerston Park. Fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.
The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas of the ground will also be open for use. And the bar under the Alpha Solway stand will be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match.
QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. Following incidents at the Cup Final on Sunday, we would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland which may result in a custodial sentence. Not only is it against the law, it is extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.
Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.
Due to the match being shown live on the BBC Scotland channel we will not be providing a live stream of this game.
The club shop located in the Arena will be open ahead of kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise.
Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 7.45 pm.
