Queens Beat Threave in Opening Friendly

We are grateful to Threave Rovers for stepping in tonight at short notice as friendly opponents after a planned fixture with Annan Athletic was called off due to a Covid outbreak in the Annan squad. We wish everyone involved there a speedy recovery. Tonight was a test event for club Covid protocols with necessary personnel only on site.

In the end Queens ran out winners by 6-1. A strong starting line up, though featuring 4 trialists, led 4-0 at the break with goals from Tommy Goss, an own goal, a Trialist and a Dan Pybus free kick. Queens made six changes at the interval and another 5 part way through the half, finishing with an entirely different 11 players. Threave pulled one back early in the second half but two further goals, the first a penalty from the same Trialist and the 2nd a header from a different trialist completed the scoring.

We wish Threave Rovers a successful season.
