After last weekend?s draw at home to Stenhousemuir it was off to Broadwood to face Hamilton Accies. Manager, Peter Murphy looked to make one change to the starting eleven with Taylor Charters replacing the injured Brennan Dickenson, but with Jack Hannah pulling up in the warm-up, another enforced switch saw Niall Rogerson also got the nod to start.
Queens made an early push and in the opening ten minutes they had the better chances. Firstly, a ball in from the left was just out of reach of Kurtis Guthrie before Kai Kennedy?s free-kick dropped into the box but Josh Lane cleared as it spun off Rogerson and away from Guthrie.
Benji Luissint then won another free-kick, this time closer to goal and as Kennedy aimed for the keeper?s top right corner, the ball flew just wide.
Accies then started to get more control of the ball and as Rogerson lost it to Oli Shaw, Matty Douglas came out to clear. But Queens were still on the attack and as Nicky Clark kept the ball low his cross into the box was behind Guthrie. The visitors were passing it around and keeping hold of the ball, but there was no one inside the area to take advantage of Kennedy?s final delivery into the box.
Midway through the half, Ross Stewart launched a free-kick from the half way line into the six-yard area where Rogerson got his head on it but it didn?t have the power to trouble the keeper. And a minute later it was the home side who took the lead. Clark gave the ball away inside his own half and as the ball broke to Shaw, he saw Stewart off his line and lobbed it over him into the net.
With just under half an hour played Queens were back level when the ball fell to Kennedy inside the 18-yard area and he picked out Clark at the opposite side of the box who headed home from a yard to score his first goal since returning in the transfer window.
Back in charge, Kennedy whipped the ball in from the right again looking for Clark but this time his header was just off target. On the front foot, Kennedy played a free-kick in for Reece Lyon but he headed over. Minutes later the two combined again but this time it was Lyon who set up Kennedy and he took one too many touches inside the box and it allowed the home side to clear.
With six minutes of the first half remaining, Lyon looked to be offside but the flag stayed down and as he played the ball back to Kennedy the winger delivered a cross to the edge of the six-yard box and Guthrie?s diving header found the net only for the flag to go up this time.
It was still Queens who had the better chances and as Clark found Lyon with a brilliant pass, he kept it low to Zander Mackenzie, he too kept it low but his effort was well wide.
As Accies hit back Kevin O?Hara played a great cross into the center of goal to Shaw but the striker headed over. And in the closing minutes before the break, Douglas headed over a Kennedy corner and Callum Penman did well to hold off Stephen Hendrie who could only win a corner for his side.

Into the second half and it was the home side who had the first attempt on goal but Stewart saved from Shaw. The game was back and forward and seven minutes after the restart, Penman intercepted a goal-kick and took it down the right-hand side before playing it across the box. Lyon was unmarked as he slid in at the back-post to force the ball past Lane to give Queens the lead.
Kennedy, Clark, Lyon and Guthrie were all lively upfront and continued to put pressure on the home side but as they made a break of their own, Stewart got down to his left to make a save to deny Hendrie. Two minutes later they had a strong claim for a penalty when Stuart McKinstry crossed and Shaw looked to be nudged by Douglas as he went for the tap-in.
It was still end to end and as O?Hara got the better of Rogerson, Douglas came across to cover before Charters started a good Queens move that ended with Mackenzie hitting it over the bar.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Charters made a block from McKinstry and as the ball was played back up the park, Clark?s shot was deflected for a corner. As Kennedy played it to the front, Clark was on the line of the six-yard area to send a glancing header over the keeper into the far corner to make it three.
Queens continued to push and as Lyon made a break, he had Kennedy to his left and Guthrie to his right, he opted for the left and as Kennedy pushed inside, he won a corner, that came to nothing and as the ball was cleared to Hendrie, the former Queens man hit a low drive that was left to go wide.
In added on time, substitute Liam Smith went on a great run down the middle before laying it off to Penman to his right, the St Mirren loanee who had been excellent throughout the game hit a right foot shot but fired it well over the bar.
The hosts did have the ball in the net at the other end but the flag was up before with the final chance of the game, Shaw was in on goal but Stewart made himself big to save.
