As we headed to Stirling for a crucial game in league one, Kyle McClelland recovered from injury to take his place in defence at the expense of Max Kilsby who dropped to the bench. In the one other change, Kieran McKechnie joined Max amongst the subs as Lewis Gibson started.
With a lot at stake for both sides, it was no surprise that it wasnt the greatest game of football. It was the home side who had a lot of the ball early on but never threatened Harry Stones goal. And ten minutes in, as Queens broke through Josh Todd, Kyle Doherty had their first attempt on goal, but his low right foot shot was easily saved by Mark Weir.
Seven minutes later, Alex Ferguson hit a powerful shot from distance that tested the keeper more, but he did well to get down low to push it out.
Midway through the half Kieran Offord drove the ball across the box but his effort was well wide of the target.
And on the half hour mark, Gibson whipped the ball in from the right wing, but Jack Brydons header was wide of the post.
The best chance for Queens came three minutes later from the left boot of Doherty. As his effort headed for the top corner, Weir got a hand to it to tip it out.
As two nervous teams looked for an opener, Offord fired a right foot shot towards goal from outside the box, but Stone made a one-handed save. The same player was in again three minutes before the break, but with the final opportunity of the first half, Stone easily collected his low shot.
HALF TIME: Stirling 0 Queens 0
Seven minutes after the restart Todd was on the 18-yard line when he hit a right foot effort high of the goal. At the other end Dale Carrick laid the ball off to Josh McPake but his attempt was also well over.
The game was calling out for quality and Stone produced a fine save when he saw it late but got down low to push the ball out for a corner.
Queens werent creating the same chances theyd done previously but did force a few corners when Doherty hit a shot that wasnt the cleanest but was knocked out but the home defenders. As McKechnie who had come on to replace Gibson, played it across, Todd was at the back post but again his effort was knocked out. This time as McKechnie played it in from the opposite side, Paul McKay tried to force it home, but the keeper collected.
With seventy minutes on the clock, McKechnie picked out Doherty with a good pass and the forward used his strength to make his way towards goal but could only win another corner as the ball was again cleared.
Fifteen minutes from time, Ferguson opened up space at the edge of the box to hit a left foot shot but the keeper saved. Then McKechnie, Todd and Gavin Reilly all combined only for Weir to collect.
In the closing stages, the home side piled on the pressure and McKay made a terrific challenge inside the six-yard box when he put his body on the line to keep the ball out. And former Queens striker, Dale Hilson had a couple of late chances, but he hit one well over with another blocked by Cammy Logan.
Neither side could get the breakthrough, and both had to settle for a point.
