Match Preview v Cove Rangers 6th May 2025

May 5 2025 12:47

All roads lead to Palmerston tomorrow night as we continue our push for promotion with the first leg of our Championship play-off semi-final against Cove Rangers.

It’s all square when it comes to previous results this season with both sides winning their home matches. Kieran McKechnie and Mikey Hewitt scored for us in our first home game of the season, a 2-1 victory after Adam Emslie had given Cove the lead. Mikey also scored the only goal of the game the last time Paul Hartley’s side visited a very foggy Palmerston. In the games at the Balmoral Stadium, Fraser Fyvie and Mitch Megginson scored in a 2-0 win in October and in March, Reece Lyon scored to give us a seventh minute lead only for the hosts to come back to win 3-1 thanks to a goal from Blair Yule and a double from Emslie.

Ahead of the game tomorrow, Manager Peter Murphy said “Cove are a good side; we didn’t do ourselves justice the last time we played them, but we are a different team now. The tie is over two legs so no matter what happens tomorrow it isn't over. We are working towards Saturday. We are a young side so we need to be able to manage the two games and make sure we do our best and if that is good enough, we will be successful. Hopefully the supporters will come out in their numbers again and get behind the team, it really does make a difference.”

The lounge bar under the Main stand will also be open to both sets of supporters’ pre-match.

For safety reasons, QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. We would like to remind supporters that letting off smoke devices is a criminal offence, and anyone found doing so will be referred to Police Scotland. Not only is it against the law, it is also extremely dangerous and a health hazard to other spectators. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue; this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

The Scottish Football league have asked us to remind supporters that it is strictly prohibited to enter the field of play and that it would be considered Unacceptable Conduct under SPFL Rules and such actions may also result in disciplinary consequences for the Club.

The club shop located in the Arena will be open until kick off where you can purchase our club merchandise. Including half-time draw tickets, there will be no programme for this game.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 7.45 pm. Bring the colour, bring the noise!
