Morton Match Preview

After a break, the first team return to action this weekend when we welcome fellow promotion chasing Morton in what will be a crucial Championship match at Palmerston.

Both our games so far this season have been tight, with three goals in each, resulting in a win a piece for both teams.

Some magic from Jai Quitongo secured the points for Morton at Palmerston, while a goal either side of half time from Stephen Dobbie and Callum Fordyce at Cappielow to cancel out the home sides early penalty was enough to earn us three points away from home.

Queens boss Gary Naysmith shares his thoughts ahead of the game.

"The Championship table is still very congested as proved by our own position. We are seven points off second place and seven points off third from bottom. St Mirren have a very healthy lead at the top and Brechin are a little detached at the bottom but for rest of the teams there is still everything to play for in the remaining months of the season which means that the league will remain very competitive right through until the end of April.

Our recent run of results have been very inconsistent in the league although I feel a big part of that has been down to the amount of players we have had missing over the last six or seven games. Now that a few of these players have returned, I am hopeful that from now until the end of the season we can put together a good run of results that will take us into the play off positions.

Morton are in a good run of form just now with four consecutive victories under their belt - and of course they are still going strong in the Scottish Cup. I wish them well in that but we know that we need to take something from this game to keep ourselves in the play-off mix.

Last week's break gave our injured players a bit more recovery time, we had hoped give a few players some game time on Tuesday night but unfortunately that was cancelled. Jordan Marshall and Kyle Jacobs are returning from injury and will be back in the squad. Which leaves us with just Dan Carmichael from the longer term injured unavailable.  Derek Lyle hasn't recovered from the knock he picked up so he will also miss this one".

The match at Palmerston sponsored by David Kellett kicks off at 3pm. James Kingan & Son are our gold ball sponsors this week.

It will be a special day for four youngsters; Eshan Davidson, Krishnan Davidson, Ben Miller & Aaron Lorimer who are all mascots. And the SLO chosen charity of the week is the South of Scotland Wildlife Hospital.
