Carl Freeman Memorial Fund

Recently a number of Compass staff along with the Freeman Family visited The Queen of the South Arena. The purpose of their visit was to donate cycle helmets to approximately forty children who are coached by our community team, Eddie Warwick and Dan Armstrong during our after school club held on a Wednesday.

The Carl Freeman Memorial Fund raises funds to support the work of Compass including promoting the use of cycle helmets to children and adults all over Dumfries and Galloway. Mrs Freeman approached Owen Fielding , Business Manager of Compass when her husband Carl passed away due to a brain tumour. Mrs Freeman was looking for a way of giving something back to Compass (then Headway). Compass had, over the years, given the family their help and expertise.  The Carl Freeman Memorial fund was set up and have donated over 100 helmets so far to raise awareness of acquired brain injuries and the life-changing impact of such injuries on individuals and their families.

Queen of the South are very much part of the Compass curriculum due to some of our community clubs, including walking football that takes place at the Arena on a Monday morning for the over 50s.
