First Team Visit Summer Camp

Children from across the region who are taking part in the Queen of the South summer soccer camp received a special visit.  Manager, Gavin Skelton and the first team squad dropped in to get involved in a coaching session at the Arena on route to a closed door friendly against Carlisle.

Community coach, Dan Armstrong who arranged the camps which each take place over five days, believes the visit is important for the club as well as the kids involved.

"It's massive it gets people talking about Queen of the South and the kids coming along are the next generation of supporters, it's a great day and great for the club".

"The kids love it, meeting the players certainly helps, the kids feel part of the club and we hope that now they've met the players, they'll come along using the Junior Blue session tickets that we have on offer and watch the team play".

"It's great to see the kids coming in and enjoying it, the numbers are increasing each day which is great.  At each camp, we have a five day progamme, this week they've had dribbling games on day one, that's been followed by a day of passing and the rest of the week they'll have a tour of the ground when they'll learn a bit about the history of the club, there will be some shooting practice and we'll finish with a European Championship tournament".

"Queens are definitely a community club with the school programmes, after school programme and the soccer camps that we're holding in Dalbeattie and at the Arena over the summer".
