Test Time for the Youths

The Under 13 & 15’s squads were put through their paces last week as both age groups participated in their pre-season testing.

The youths were trained by Michael King and Scott Ferguson as part of the SFA Performance School Programme at Dumfries Academy.

The programme look to compare the physical development of youth footballers at varying levels of training volume and competition.

The two academy teams were measured in nine parameters; height, weight, seated height, 5/10/20m sprints, change of direction, countermovement jumping and finally finishing with the YoYo test.

The tests have been specifically chosen to estimate maturity status, assess linear speed, indicate a player’s ability to change direction, measure lower limb explosive power and also measure aerobic capacity respectively.

The squads pushed themselves hard in what was a gruelling night of test, or so the on-looking coaches thought.

Final Push for those Remaining

It was a night of sweat and  tears as the players had to give their all to help with their development at the club as all information is processed and put towards a retesting night in December.

However despite the pain of testing the boys were a great credit to the club and this was stated by both testers who claimed that this was one of the best squads they’ve worked with.
