Annan Athletic

It was an exciting and enjoyable first competitive encounter versus Annan Athletic at Galabank in a well attended local derby On Saturday.  Our friends and hosts were most welcoming and Chairman Billy Hewitson was delighted to accept a pre-match memento of the occasion from Annan Chairman Henry McLelland.  In a heartfelt speech prior to the presentation Henry was keen to stress the links between Queens and Annan and the role that former Chairman Willie Harkness played in assisting Annan in the formation of the club and their entry into the Scottish league system.  It was also good to hear that when Cup draws are made that the good people at Annan Athletic are hoping for a draw against their local rivals.  For many Queens fans and especially the large contingent from Annan, it is a hope that is shared, and after the match on Saturday the longing for a rematch will be strong for all involved.  We are sure that ties will remain strong between the two clubs and thank our friends from Annan for their exceptional hospitality.
