Post-match Reaction, QoS 1-0 Albion

Allan Johnston was "delighted" to secure another win as Queen of the South continued their unbeaten start to the season thanks to a 1-0 home win against Albion Rovers.

Derek Lyle bagged the only goal of the game before Albion`s Jamie Gilmartin was shown a straight red for a lunging tackle on Ryan McGuffie.

After the game the Queens` gaffer was happy with the result: ”Sometimes against ten men it’s difficult.  Too much of the ball, too much time, you start making the wrong decisions.  There were too many square passes, we need to play forward but it’s difficult when you play against teams like that.

"We’ve got to be positive, we’re unbeaten so I’ve got a lot of praise for the boys.  They know we’ve got to take more chances, we’ve got to punish teams."

On Lee Robinson’s penalty save: “Great save.  That’s how he is one of the best ‘keepers in the division but the lads know we shouldn’t have been put in that position.

"I’m delighted to get the win."

Midfielder Stephen McKenna echoed his manager`s comments: “Brilliant result.  Another three points for us and come the end of the season nobody is going to remember the performance, just that we got the three points.

"We dominated from start to finish.  We had so much of the ball and once we got the goal and they got their man sent off it was only going to take a severe bit of slackness from us to let them back in the game and that’s nearly what happened.

"It was a soft penalty but it was given and Lee [Robinson] pulled off a great save.  That’s two in two weeks he’s done for us and after that as long as we kept our composure, kept the ball and tried to stay onside a bit more they were never going to get back into the game and that’s the way it worked out."
