Michael Ruth Next In

We are pleased to announce striker Michael Ruth as the next player to join us for the 2022/23 season. Michael, who is 20 years old, signed a one year contract at training at Palmerston this morning. He is a product of Queen's Park's Club Academy programme and made his 1st team breakthrough with the Hampden club when he was still only 16 years old. He signed for Aberdeen in 2019 on a two year contract and later signed a one year extension there. He has had loan spells in the Championship with Arbroath and, last season, was on loan at Falkirk for the first part of the season, scoring 4 goals in 12 starts, before being recalled by the Dons in January. He made his first team debut for Aberdeen towards the end of the season and started the final game but was released at the end of the season.

Manager Wullie Gibson said, "Michael is a striker who immediately interested me when I heard he was available. He's maybe not quite made the breakthrough at Aberdeen but he's still very young and I'm confident he has a lot to offer. He's played at this level last season with Falkirk and Grant knows a fair bit about him too. I'm delighted to get him on board."

Michael added, "I'm pleased to get my future sorted out. I was desperate to stay in full time football and need a new start with more first team opportunities. Queens are a good club and I'm sure we will be up there challenging this season. I played in League One last season and I know it's not an easy League but I'm up for the challenge. It's been good to meet the squad this morning and get the hard work started."
