Match Preview v Hamilton (A)

With a midweek card scheduled, the games are coming thick and fast this week and tomorrow night (Tues) we travel to Hamilton Accies.

Accies claimed the points in our first league game back in August. We weathered the storm from Stuart Taylor’s side in a goal-less first half at Palmerston, only for the visitors to score within a minute of the restart through Andy Ryan. It was a better second half performance from us and Ruari Paton levelled, but it wasn’t to be as Lewis Smith scored what proved to be the winner with 16 minutes remaining.

Both sides are in a similar run of form just now and only two points separate them. We sit 7th on 10 points after our goal-less draw at home to Morton, while the hosts are one place below, two points worse off and go into this game on the back of a 2 – 1 defeat away at Kilmarnock.

Manager Allan Johnston said “Saturday’s game wasn’t a classic to watch but it was a clean-sheet for us and another point on the board, so that gives us something to build on. We didn’t make a good start to the game but gradually worked our way into it and created the better chances.

It is fine margins, especially in this league, so we need to continue to keep things tight at the back and start to covert the chances we are making.

Every game in this league is tough and in our next two games we face the two teams who were in the Premier League last season so that shows the level of opposition we are up against. But these are the games we want to play in, and we will make the trips in a positive frame of mind”.
