Friendly vs Lochar

Last night a mix of 18's and reserve players took on Lochar Thistle in a friendly. The game began at a good pace with both team trying to make their mark on the game. Queens moved the ball well, playing some nice possesion based football and had a lot of success with both fullbacks getting on the ball in the wide areas and Queens seeing a lot of the ball in the early exchanges. However Lochar posed a threat on the counter with the fast pace in which they moved the ball though the sections of the pitch through former Queens player Robbie Hogg, who fed Ian Anderson and Liam Robertson to ask questions of the young Queens back line. However the early dominance of the ball lead to a Peter Mendy goal who fronted up the Lochar defender and fired the ball into the back of the net from the angle to put Queens 1-0 ahead. Queens high press demonstrated the young sides ability to win the ball back high up the park and create good opportunities to attck the Lochar goal however nothing really to test the goalkeeper.  Lochar had a couple of chances on the counter attack after beating the Queens press with some nice football however this was to no avail as they squandered a couple of chances and Queens back line threw their bodies on the line to ensure the score remained 1-0 at the break.

The second half began in similar fashion with both teams trying to play football and Queens again moving the ball well and having success in the wide areas. Which eventually lead to Queens doubling their lead, the move started by Pietsch in goal who played it out from the back and a passing sequence down the right hand side allowed a fantatsic ball to be played across goal for a Mendy tap in. Lochar then grabbed a lifeline in the game as Queens over played and gave the ball away in a dangerous area and Lochar clinically punished the mistake nestling the ball into the bottom corner. Lochar then had a good spell of possesion looking for the equiliser, however this wasn't to be found and Queens secured the victory as a great Kennedy pass lead to a composed finish from Naylor. All in all a good test for the side against a good Lochar team who we wish all the best for the rest of their campaign.
