Match Preview v Partick Th (H)

We have a break for the Championship this weekend as we play our SPFL Trust Trophy 3rd Round tie. It is a break from the league but not from league opposition as Partick Thistle are the visitors to Palmerston. The game is being played on Friday night to avoid a clash with the Scotland v Israel fixture at Hampden on Saturday.

It will be the second time the two sides have played each other this season. We made the trip to Glasgow on the opening day of the league season to play them at Firhill. In a closely contested game, Thistle emerged 3-2 winners. Willie Gibson opened the scoring on 11 minutes only for Brian Graham to equalise six minutes later. The striker scored again on the half hour mark to give Ian McCall’s side a half time lead. Ruari Paton then pulled us level with 15 minutes to go only for Scott Tiffoney to tap in with six minutes remaining to seal the victory.

Looking ahead to the game, Queens boss Allan Johnston said “The boys are in good spirits after the win over Dunfermline last week. We had to be patient to get the goal, but I thought overall, we deserved the win for a really good team performance.

It is a break from the league this week, but it is still against Championship opposition, so it won’t be an easy game. Partick had a comfortable win over Ayr last week so will be confident going into the game too.

We have players who need game time so we will probably look to utilise the squad and change things around a wee bit but will be giving it our all to get through to the next round”.

Supporters Information

Despite the latest guidelines from the JRG, following discussion with Partick Thistle we have taken the decision that there will be no changes to arrangements for Friday within the stadium for either spectators or players. Both clubs will continue to operate 2m social distancing within the playing squads due to the requirements for isolations should a player test positive, especially in the light of the fact that not all players are fully vaccinated.

Therefore, HOME supporters will still be located within the BDS stand and Oakbank terrace. With away fans accommodated in sections 7 to 9 in the East section of the BDS Stand.

To gain entry to the stand - Home supporters should use turnstiles 1 & 2 while away fans should use turnstiles 3 & 4. Entry to the Oakbank Terrace will be via turnstiles 16 & 17 only. Please note there will be no movement between the stand and terrace so please take care to use the correct turnstiles.

Turnstiles will be open for spectator entry at 1830 to ease congestion at the turnstiles.

Entry is by ticket only. The Arena ticket office is open from 1745 and the BDS Stand ticket office open from 1815. Please note that the BDS Stand ticket office is CASH ONLY. Spectators are requested to bring the correct ticket money with them. This will ease pressure on the ticket office. Should you wish to pay by card you should purchase your ticket from the ticket office within the Arena.

Pricing for this game will be as follows:

£15 Adults
£8 Concessions
£5 Under 16's

Accessibility pricing will be the usual £8 Adults, £5 Concessions and £3 Under 16's.

All spectators are requested to remain in position as much as possible to minimize the potential for Covid transmission. All fans must wear face coverings in enclosed areas such as concourse areas and toilets.

Car parking will be available to all spectators within the Queen of the South Arena car park. It is suggested that buses/minibuses drop off their passengers in Terregles St/King Street and thereafter park on College Mains road just off the roundabout with the A76 on the town bypass (adjacent to Curry’s/PC World, as the other side at Aldi is the access road to the ambulance depot and is extremely busy). Pick up should be the same location as drop off. Supporters buses including minibuses will not be allowed to park in the Arena car park.

As far as we are aware there are no ongoing roadworks currently around Dumfries that may affect travel times to Palmerston Park. Fans should check the Traffic Scotland website at http://trafficscotland.org/index.aspx for confirmation of any delays.

The catering outlets within the supporter’s areas will be open for use. Pre-match refreshments are available in the Arena before kick-off at our pop-up bar. And hospitality is available for the game. It is open to both sets of supporters at a cost of £40 per person. It includes a two-course curry meal and a bottle of beer as well as seating in our hospitality area. To book email [email protected] or telephone the office on 01387 254853.

QOS have adopted a robust and thorough search policy for spectators entering the ground to ensure that ground rules and regulations are strictly adhered to, especially in relation to pyrotechnic devices and controlled containers. All bags will be searched and spectators presenting themselves for entry may also be subject to search. Spectators who refuse to be searched by stewards will be denied entry to the ground.

Palmerston Park is a non-smoking venue, this includes e cigarettes and other such devices. Stewards are empowered to eject spectators who disobey these rules. No persons will be admitted to the ground who are deemed to be under the influence of alcohol.

For those unable to attend in person, the match will be available to stream for both sets of supporters on QOSTV at our usual £10 per match rate. Please note, as this game is not a 3pm Saturday kick off, the English FA ban on streaming sales to English addresses will not apply and English residents will be able to buy also.
