Young Reserve Side Lose to Abbey Vale

A very young side lost 4-1 to Abbey Vale in a friendly at Palmerston last night. Queens fielded a mixture of Reserves and u18 players against a strong Abbey Vale side preparing for their SC Alba Cup semi final against Lochar Thistle this coming weekend and it was the visitors who started much the brighter and quickly established a 2-0 lead. Queens struggled to gain any foothold in the game with the greater experience of Abbey Vale dominating possession and adding a third goal before Cammy Shaw pulled a goal back just before the interval.

The second half saw Wullie Gibson make five changes and a change of shape. This helped Queens get more into the game and retain possession better. Both sides were guilty of missed opportunities in the second period but Abbey Vale did manage to add a 4th goal.

Manager Wullie Gibson said, "It was good for the young lads to play against a far more experienced side. It's disappointing to lose any game but the boys worked hard and showed a good attitude. We'd like to thank Abbey Vale for giving us a game and wish them good luck in the semi final at the weekend."
