Sporting Challenge

Today we are starting our Cash for Kids sports challenge.

The aim is to raise as much money as possible in order to receive funding from the charity to help us continue to run our community based projects.

Providing we reach a minimum of £1000, whatever money the club raises, it will be given back to the Queen of the South community trust to help with the running costs of our community programmes such as the breakfast club. If we have the highest total at the end of the campaign we will be granted a further £2500.  So it’s really important that we all get involved if we can.

Our community projects are invaluable to a lot of people across the region.  We aim to engage, empower and evolve the people we work with and the more funding we can get the more opportunity we will have to deliver more in our region.

We would like all Queens fans and members of the wider community to help us get the message out there and to make people aware of the great work that Cash for Kids do while raising money for more children across Dumfries and Galloway.

In order to help us reach our target (or more if possible) we need you to run, walk, jog, swim, cycle or even crawl 5km and donate £5 to our sports challenge page via the club shop section of the website. (https://store.qosfc.com/sports-challenge-donations)

Once you have completed your own challenge and pledged your own money, we would like you to take a picture and #QueenoftheSouth on your social media channels and nominate five more people.

A spokesman for the club said “As you may be aware our Community projects help people across Dumfries and Galloway.  The youngest person we have helped is just three years old with the oldest 93, so that shows that we engage with a wide age range from various backgrounds.  A lot of the work that we do can only be done thanks to the money we receive from Cash for Kids.  It’s a charity that we do a lot of work with and run numerous projects side by side, such as the breakfast club which is now into its 4th year and has proved really successful.  We have taken part in the challenge the last two years so we are pushing to make our third year the best yet”.

You can read our community report from last year at https://qoscommunity.com/community-update

This year’s challenge runs from the 4th September to the 4th of October during which time we will be running other fund raising initiatives so look out for those too.   But to start with let’s cover the kilometres and help raise as much as we possibly can to help our Community.
