Commemorative Top

It is 100 years this week since we played our first ever competitive fixture.  With no game this weekend, the first teams next game away at Ayr United on the 24th of August will be the match we play nearest to the 100th anniversary.  To mark the occasion the players will wear a commemorative top (modeled by Gary Oliver, Stephen Dobbie and Faissal El Bakhtaoui).

It seems fitting that our Centenary game will be against a team that we have a lot of history and friendly rivalry with.

Over the years there have been some high scoring matches between the two sides, including a 7 - 1 victory for Queens back in 1934/35 and a 6 - 1 win four seasons later.  More recently we had a 5 - 0 victory last season when Dobs scored four.  But the most talked about meeting is the 5 - 4 Scottish Cup replay in February 1976.  Queens famously came from two goals down at Somerset and Allan Ball saved a penalty with a broken ankle to take the game back to Palmerston where Queens went on to win the nine goal thriller.
